    Aaron Schmidt Alumni Band Scholarship Endowment

    This scholarship was created in 1983 and endowed in 2004 in honor of the late Dr. Aaron Schmidt, who served as Director of Bands from 1960-1973.

    Qualification Criteria:

    • Must be a qualified instrumentalist who particiates in one of the APSU bands

    Al Williams Memorial Scholarship

    The Al Williams Memorial Scholarship was established in honor of retired APSU Education professor, Dr. Alan Williams.

    Alan Chong Memorial Scholarship in International Education

    The Alan Chong Memorial Scholarship in International Education will be awarded to students studying in any area. It is designated for Austin Peay students of Asian descent.  Selection will be made by Dr. Sam Fung and International Education scholarship committee.

    Alan Faircloth Memorial Scholarship

    This scholarship was established in honor of fallen Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Alan Scott Faircloth. A selection committee, headed by the residing APSU Director of the School of Nursing, will award one $500 scholarship.

    Qualification Criteria:
    • 3.0 GPA
    • Full-time enrollment
    • Nursing major
    • Firefighter or EMT affiliation (Preference)
    • Dickson County, TN resident (2nd Preference)
     
    The recipient can receive this scholarship for a maximum of 2 years if the following retention requirements are met:

    Alex P. Wootton, Jr. Scholarship

    This scholarship was established in 1990 by Mark S. and Martha Em Raby in recognition of Mrs. Raby's father's dedication to the community and significant involvement in public service. Alex Wootton was instrumental in establishing the EMS services in Clarksville/Montgomery County.

    Qualification Criteria:
    • 3.0 GPA
    • 22 ACT or 1100 SAT

    This scholarship was established by the family of the late Amelia Lay Hodges.

    This scholarship was established by the five children of Barbara Beach to honor her life and accomplishments. Barbara was a talented painter and an advocate of higher education, regardless of the student's age.

    This scholarship was established in 1990 by friends and former athletes of Coach Bill Dupes. Recipients for this and all other athletic scholarships will be selected by the Athletic Department.

    Brown-Taylor Diamond in the Rough MCHS Student Endowment

    This scholarship was established by Daniel and Karen Hogue honoring Mike Brown, Math teacher at Montgomery Central High School, and Dr. Jaime Taylor, Interim Provost at Austin Peay State University. The scholarship recipient will be selected by a committee from MCHS in the spring of each academic year to be awarded at the fall/spring semesters.

    Byrom/Wood Music Scholarship

    The Byrom/Wood Music Scholarship was established in 2007 by APSU Alumni Ben Troxler. The scholarship is currently funded by Mr. and Mrs. Bill Byrom in honor of their son and APSU alumni Paul Byrom (Bachelor's in Music, 2012; Master's in Music, 2014), a former Troxler Scholarship and Presser Award recipient, and Dr. Jeffrey Wood, Professor of Music.

    Cameron Ford Watts Scholarship

    Established by the family of Cameron Ford Watts, who passed away in 1993, this endowed scholarship provides an award to a student registered with the Office of Disability Services. Gifts from numerous family members and friends created this endowment which is the first scholarship at Austin Peay designated specifically for a student with a disability.

    Carlos Brewer Friends of Photography Scholarship

    Friends of Photography is a not-for-profit association of beginning to advanced photographers from Clarksville/Montgomery County dedicated to the advancement of photographic knowledge and inspiration. This scholarship, in memory of Dr. Carlos Brewer, provides an award to a student majoring in fine arts with an emphasis in photography.

    This scholarship has been established by the Acuff Circle of Excellence in honor of legendary artist, Roy Acuff. A selection committee headed by the residing Dean of the College of Arts and Letters will grant the scholarship for the following academic year to one student only.

    • Art, Communication Arts, Dance, English, Music, or Theatre major

    CECA Excellence Creative Arts Scholarship #2

    This scholarship has been established by the Acuff Circle of Excellence in honor of legendary artist, Roy Acuff. A selection committee headed by the residing Dean of the College of Arts and Letters will grant the scholarship for the following academic year to one student only.

    • 3.0 GPA
    • Art, Communication Arts, Dance, English, Music, or Theatre major
    • Full-time Enrollment
    • Submit an Artist’s Essay to include their reasons for wanting to be an artist, and their academic and artistic goals. (Min. 250 words)

    Charles C. and Mary Lorraine Wilson Endowed Nursing Scholarship

    This scholarship was established in 2005 by Mary Lorraine Wilson. All awards will be made in honor of oncology nurses and staff of the University Medical Center - Cancer Care Center - in Lebanon, Tennessee, in appreciation for their care, dedication and compassion.

    Courtney A. Turner Memorial Scholarship

    This Endowment gift is awarded to a Cheerleader/Pom Squad member in recognition of academic and character standards which reflect the life of Courtney Turner, whose love for APSU and cheerleading will always be remembered by the APSU community and athletic fans. The recipient is selected based on the discretion of the Athletic Department Scholarship Committee's recommendation. They may continue to receive it as long as they remain an APSU student.     Dave Aaron Scholarship

    The Dave Aaron Endowment Fund was established for men's basketball and football. Money earned from the fund will be shared equally by the two sports and may only be used in the following areas: Scholarship aid for student-athletes or recruiting of student-athletes The money earned each year from the endowment shall be spent at the discretion of the head coaches subject to NCAA regulations.     Dorothy Dix Research Award Scholarship

    The scholarship was established by Ms. Daisy Meriwether VanDenburgh in 2007 in memory of her great aunt Elizabeth Meriwether Gilmer and in admiration of the established Dorothy Dix Archival Collection housed in the F. G. Woodward Library. Gilmer wrote under the nom de plume, Dorothy Dix. She is known as one of the most famous journalists in the world.

    Dr. Bruce Myers Computer Science Scholarship Endowment

    Bruce Myers joined Austin Peay State University in 1970 as a mathematics professor. Beginning in 1975, he transitioned this teaching assignment to computer science and helped to develop APSU's Computer Science programs beginning with a BS Degree in 1980, PSM, and MS degrees in 2014-2016. He chaired the Computer Science and Information Technology Department from 2003-2018. The department grew substantially and added a number of new degree programs during that time. This scholarship was established in his name by his friends and former students in 2013.

    Frances Tellefsen and Lois Tellefsen Jones Scholarship

    This scholarship is in honor of Frances Tellefsen who supported and encouraged Lois Tellefsen Jones (2008 BA, 2016 MA) while obtaining her two degrees at Austin Peay State University. Lois returned to school as a non-traditional student, decades after high school graduation. In the first few months of attending APSU, Lois became a single parent and financially challenged. Frances Tellefsen was extremely proud of her daughter, and recognized the will it took to continue her education despite her financial and personal situation. Many occasions, Frances contributed to Lois' family to ensure that she would graduate. Frances passed in March of 2018, before see could see Lois receive her doctorate. She knew that Lois loved APSU as a student, and employee.

    This scholarship was created in honor of Heidi Leming, former director of Student Life and Leadership. Heidi was instrumental in applying for a diversity access grant through the Tennessee Board of Regents and secured $13,000 to start a peer mentor program for Hispanic Students on campus as well as several other programs to bring greater awareness to Hispanic issues.

    The John A. and Elizabeth A. Wyatt Endowed Scholarship was established in honor of John A. and Elizabeth A. Wyatt, who were both born in Montgomery County, Tennessee. John was born in 1912 and Elizabeth in 1916. They grew up on neighboring farms that were one mile apart. It was always in their nature that they should give back to the community, which had been so good to them over the years. These scholarships given by their family will hopefully help students today achieve their educational goals as the Wyatts helped their children and others over the years.

    Lynda Wilkerson Conner Education Scholarship for Student Teaching

    For nearly 40 years, Lynda Wilkerson Conner was one of the first people the
    Austin Peay State University College of Education faculty contacted whenever they needed
    to place a student teacher in a classroom. In that time, she mentored dozens of future
    teachers, passing along her motto, “To reach a child’s brain, you must first reach his heart.”

    The Lynda Wilkerson Conner Education Scholarship will be a one semester award. There will be a recipient to receive the award for fall and another to receive the award for the spring semester.

    Tammy Jo Milliken Memorial Scholarship in Communication Arts

    This scholarship was established in 1988 in memory of Tammy Jo Milliken. Her parents, Ruth and Ervin Milliken, APSU alumna, established an endowment to create this scholarship, which is to be awarded each calendar year to a graduate of Northwest High School in Montgomery County. Selection is made by the Chair of the Communication and Theatre Department based on recommendations by department faculty members and the Northwest High school principal and faculty.     The John and Julia Gold Agricultural Scholarship

    In the United States, farmers are of both genders, come from every sector of the country and cultivate farms of various acreage. Small black farmers, make up a small percentage of the farms in this country. In an attempt to increase the number of black farmers, one farmer at a time, beginning spring 2017, the John and Julia Gold Agricultural Scholarship will be awarded at Austin Peay State University.

    The gift will be used to established the John and Julia Gold Agricultural Scholarship at Austin Peay State University. The Agriculture Department shall choose the recipients from the applicant pool in NextGen Scholarship Manager for the John and Julia Gold Scholarship in accordance with Univeristy policy.

    The Vic Albright Endowed Scholarship was established to support the Austin Peay State University football team by providing assitance in the form of a scholarship to Graduate Assistants, managers, etc. The coaching staff shall choose the recipient(s) from the applicant pool in accordance with University policy.

    Warren-Northington Political Science Scholarship

    The Warren-Northington Political Science Scholarship is established in memory of Vernon, Sr., Delta Warren, M.C. III, and Nancy Northington. The scholarship also is in memory of Dr. Vernon Warren, Professor of Political Science, who taught at Austin Peay for 38 years. Dr. Vernon Warren's wife, Nell Northington Warren, finalized the establishment of this scholarship in October 2005 after Dr. Warren's death on September 13, 2005.

    William and Merle Pedigo Education Endowment

    The Austin Peay State University Foundation founded this scholarship in 2013. If a student changes from the major prior to completion of that academic year, the remaining semester scholarship amount will be diverted to an Education major in the student teaching practicum. Applicants must be eligible to enroll in the student teaching practicum program during the academic year.
